Why Edinburgh?
Edinburgh is often considered as one of the most picturesque cities in Europe, being the seat of the Scottish Parliment and home to Edinburgh Castle . Many famous annual events also take place in the city throughout the year such as: The Edinburgh Festival which starts early August and runs for 4 weeks, it is estimated that in August alone there are roughly as many visitors (450,000) as there are settlers in Edinburgh who come to enjoy the Famous Festival, also eating and drinking alot of food and wine. For 3 weeks during the August Festival the world' largest arts festival decends on the city famously known as The Edinburgh Fringe Festival with acts from theatre, comedy and dance - Comedy taking the lead with 35% of the shows and Theatre attracting only 28%. It is estimated that 18,901 performers arrived in Edinburgh from 60 countries in 2009. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society are orgainisers to the 25 day street performance to be found mainly on the Royal Mile leading up to Edinburgh Castle with many performers gathering groups of people around before they start their show, I've seen human statues that demand a second look, these gifted artist's belong to the performing acts sector as they use their own body, face and presence as a medium. Just like in the photograph above! A must see comedy act during the August Festival is this hilarious crippling with laughter act, "sell out in 2008 and 2009" the one and only Faulty Towers Dining Experience!! This show kicks off again with the very funny trio on August 5th 2010 with 19 Dinner Performances and 22 Lunch Performances in the Best Restaurant in Edinburgh - 16 Drummond Street, just of the Royal Mile.
